CONFINED SPACE STANDBY

Would Be Confined Space Rescuers are the largest demographic of casualties in confined spaces.
Statistically, six out of ten would be rescuers perish while trying to rescue another worker from a confined space. All employers entering a confined space need to provide rescue for their workers in the space.
Ronin confined space standby teams are trained and equipped members who are current or former rescue professionals in both the public and private sectors.  Ronin’s confined space staff are highly trained and have years of experience with confined space projects. Our staff regularly work in and around confined spaces with hazardous atmospheres, entrapment or engulfment hazards as well as confined spaces with extreme heights.
One of the team members will be qualified in first aid and all team members are qualified to perform standby person and gas detection duties.  In addition, all team members meet the requirements for Entry Supervisor.

ROPE ACCESS SERVICE

In February 2015, WorkSafe BC released Part 34 – Rope Access in the OHS regulations.  This regulation specifically speaks to rope access in the workplace.  Ronin staff are trained to meet the standards required by this regulation.


Rope Access as an industry has grown substantially in North America in the past ten years.  Rope Access is used to provide access to worksites that are difficult to reach or expensive to scaffold   Ronin Safety and Rescue, as a Society of Professional Rope Access Technician (SPRAT) Company, can provide level one, level two and level three technicians to deliver rope access solutions to unique access concerns.

Ronin Technicians have worked with engineers, government, heavy industry and others to provide:

  • Bridge Inspections

  • Silo Cleaning

  • Ventilation Shaft Repair

  • Light and Ballast Replacement

  • As well as other jobs where work at height / rope access skills are required.


Other areas where rope access is a preferred method to access the work area includes non-destructive testing, painting, off-shore work, wind turbine work and general services.

Ronin can utilize rope access techniques to safely perform work in areas that would otherwise be difficult to impossible to access.

ROPE RESCUE STANDBY

When workers are operating at heights where they could fall into their fall arrest system, the employer must provide for rescue.
This required rescue could utilize other staff on site with an elevated platform or other equipment.
Onsite staff would need to be trained in the rescue plan and practice the plan regularly. Certain employers in British Columbia can also rely on the Technical High Angle Rope Rescue Program (THARRP) that allocates funds to fire departments to perform rescue services. Unfortunately many employers do not have the specialized equipment to assist a worker that has fallen into their fall arrest system or are not located in a THARRP funded area. In these cases Ronin can provide a solution for you.
Our rescue standby teams are trained and equipped members who are also former or current rescue professionals on both public and private rescue teams. Our team members have decades of experience in all types of rope rescue environments. Ronin teams also use high quality specialized rescue equipment that assists with the quick and safe rescue of any worker.
We will provide a safe, timely and effective rescue response. All team members are certified to NFPA’s Rescue Technician level (level 2) in both Confined Space and Rope Rescue. As well many of our team leaders have taken advanced rescue and rope access training.

FIRST AID SERVICE

Under almost all HSE regulations worldwide, there is a requirement for first aid at a worksite.
A hazardous or remote worksite is may require a more advanced level of first aid.
Ronin Rescue employs paramedics, EMR’s and advanced first aiders with emergency service or military experience in order to assist clients not only on any site there is a need for first aid. Having staff with “real world” emergency service or military first aid experience allows our clients to feel more at ease knowing that the same level of care that arrives when you call 911 is already on site, ready to assist their needs. As well, our staff understand the pre-hospital medical system and are able to communicate effectively with first responders to ensure a rapid and smooth transition of care.
Ronin staff have experience providing first aid in mountain environments (summer and winter), in flight, and in industrial settings (extrication).

REMOTE ACCESS SERVICES

Ronin Safety and Rescue has assisted many clients with their projects situated in extreme locations where simple, drive up access is not possible. Our team has operated in the remote back country of British Columbia, Alberta, the Canadian Arctic, various areas in the Middle East, Africa, South America and Cuba. Having operated in over a dozen countries including two failed states, Ronin understands the risks associated with remote projects and is proficient at minimizing those risks.


Ronin has conducted rope access inspections and work at height in areas only accessible by four-wheel drive off-road vehicles and several hours of off-road driving.  Ronin has provided training along a 670km limited access pipeline in West Africa.  Ronin has operated in the areas around the most Northern civilian settlement in Canada during the winter.  Ronin can coordinate and facilitate these types of work and training activities whether access via helicopter, off road vehicles or walk in is required. Ronin can provide both guide services to the site, assist with the work (rope access, work at height, etc) as well as the logistics for your team.

Our remote access technicians can deploy anywhere in the world with a fully capable team including the personnel and equipment to provide a solution to your needs.  If you have a need to perform work in an isolated, difficult to access area, Ronin Safety & Rescue can assist you with your project.

STILL & SWIFTWATER STANDBY

Operating in and around flat or swift water has many potential challenges and risks. This once rare work environment is becoming more common and more regulated under different HSE governing bodies. If you or your employees work on or near any form of water source, whether flat or swift water, and are lacking the training to provide rescue services, Ronin can provide a rescue team for you.
Our Technicians have all been certified as Swift Water Rescue Technicians (NFPA) and have vast experience in this field, in both swift and flat water rescue. Our teams are fully equipped with all of the required technical rescue equipment to perform difficult water rescues. We also have Canadian Coast Guard certified rescue boat operators on staff. No matter the water source, Ronin has the solution for your water rescue concerns.

OIL & GAS SAFETY AND RESCUE

The oil and gas sector creates unique challenges for employers regarding safety and rescue. Many times the work site is remote, contains multiple staff and contractors rotating in and out and is a high hazard work environment.
Ronin Safety and Rescue thrives in these types of environments and has performed work in the oil and gas sector in Canada and internationally (Albania, Cuba, West Africa and the Caribbean).  Ronin has provided OHS/HSE programs, audits and other safety documentation to clients and has trained oil and gas workers in industrial safety and rescue.  Ronin has provided rescue standby and conducted business continuity operations in remote locations for our oil and gas clients. Ronin is ISNet and Avetta pre-qualified.
