About the Course
This five-day NFPA 1006 Rope and Confined Space Rescue Technician course is an intensive, hands-on program designed for experienced emergency responders operating in high-risk technical rescue environments. The course is built to meet the Technician-level job performance requirements of NFPA 1006 (current edition) for both rope rescue and confined space rescue, with an emphasis on real-world application rather than checklist training. Participants are expected to arrive with a solid foundation in basic rope and space awareness; this is not an entry-level course.

Instruction covers high-angle and low-angle rope systems, edge management, patient packaging, complex hauling and lowering operations, mechanical advantage systems, and problem-solving under load. Confined space modules focus on atmospheric monitoring, hazard control, permit and non-permit space considerations, vertical and horizontal entries, lock-out/tag-out integration, patient access and extrication,…
