Service Description

•This 5-day, 10+ hours per day seminar is designed for rescue and rope access team leaders. Each day will be a combination of classroom learning and preparation followed by field-testing of systems, including the failing of those systems. This failure will be followed up with the students implementing a recovery of the system and rescuing the rescuer and patient from the failed system – a truly worst-case rescue scenario, all while recording relevant data and documenting practices. Attendees will have the rare-if-ever opportunity to experience failures that are usually only talked about as theory and execute recoveries from those failures. The required evening sessions will consist of Team Leader topics such as rescue pre-planning, command and communications, strategy and tactics of rope and confined space rescues, 10:1 SSSF, SWL WLL and MBS, Redundancy, Is Stronger Better?, and Small Team tactics. *System failures have been carefully designed for safety and will not use live loads. Field topics may include: • Highlines and double reeve systems • Skate Blocks • TTRS and DMDB choices and consequences • Pick-offs • AHD failures Students must be NFPA Rope Technician, ITRA 3, MRA Rescue Leader, GRIMP IMP3, or Rope Access L3 qualified at a minimum. This course will be mentally and physically demanding. Personal Gear Required: • Manufactured Class II or III harness • PPE: Helmet, Gloves, Eyewear • Rugged, closed-toe shoes • Long pants and weather-dependent clothing • Water bottle • Descending system with Hands-free DCD and backup device • Ascending system with 2 points of attachment Courses are generally designed around 11mm rope equipment. Cancellation Policy

General Requirements Rescue and other emergency service training courses are strenuous, physical programs. Students may be required to work at heights, in confined spaces and lift/carry heavy objects. Rescue is also inherently dangerous. All students will be required to sign an assumption of risk and agreement of terms waiver. All students must be at least 18 years of age. Click here to download a copy of the waiver. Full payment of the registration fee must be made at the time of registration. Payment can be made online via our booking system. Registrations Registrations may be made up until midnight before the start date of the course. Ronin reserves the right to cancel a course for any reason including, but not limited to: an insufficient number of registrations, unsafe conditions, inadequate facilities, or an act of god. In regards to the minimum number of registrations, the course will be confirmed or cancelled 14 days before the start date. With respect to other variables such as weather, as rescue courses heavily rely on the outdoor environment, the course may be rescheduled at any time. Refunds for withdrawals Refunds less a 10% service charge may be given for withdrawals received in writing to info@roninrescue.com prior to 30 days before the start date of the course. A 50% refund will be issued for a withdrawal 15-29 days from the course start date. No refunds for registration withdrawals will be issued within 14 days of the course start date. Cancellations by Ronin For cancellations by Ronin within 14 days of the course start date, or throughout the course, course dates will be rescheduled. If an attendee is unable to attend on the new dates, full or partial credit will be issued, at Ronin’s discretion. This credit can be applied to future open courses within 12 months of the cancellation. Military Promotion Veterans and active service personnel of the Canadian Forces and NATO Allies are entitled to a discount on any open enrolment course offered by Ronin. Promotion codes can be entered at checkout. Please ensure your Canadian Forces ID or military ID (certificate of service, DD214, MPRR, etc) is included with your registration. Proof of identification will be required before enrolment is accepted. Any attempt to use the promotion code by a person who is not a veteran or active service military will result in the registration being voided, and the person being removed from the course with no refund.
